Program KAREL

With the Sewage System Information System (KAREL), all data relevant for a sewer system can be designed and used. For a selected cross section geometrical, hydraulic and economical data, and investigation reports are generated and exchanged.
The analysis of the database can be done by an easy-to-use KAREL query generator which access directly through Microsoft Access. By KAREL, it is also possible for the assessment of existing condition and rehabilitation planning.
With the graphic system GraPS , the data can be visualized by KAREL. GraPS contains various functions in order to directly access the actual data from the diagram and represent the data base evaluations as well as the results in the layout plan (site plans).

General

The database is in the form of Microsoft Access, which is divided into various tables. The data are interlinked between the tables as per the requirement.

With the extensive help and search functions, it is easy to work with the database without requiring a long training period.

All the data in the database can be interlinked with a query generator. As the Structured Query Language SQL is used, further inquiries can be produced easily in Microsoft ACCESS.

With the help of report-generator, reports can be generated on any data and query in the database. Moreover, the reports can be generated directly in the project database using Microsoft Access.

Printout

The existing state analysis is made for the hydraulic capability of the conduits, for the manholes and for the conduits with/without consideration of the potential hazard to the environment due to the structural damage. The state assessment is addressed in „Arbeitshilfen Abwasser“(March 2007) or. DWA-leaflet M 149-3.

The description of the conditions for channels, conduits and manholes is possible as according to DWA instruction M143 part 2 (since April 1999) as well as according to DIN EN 13508-2.

During the redevelopment planning, the hydraulic load can also be consulted as an evaluation criterion besides the damage class. For each damage, the cause of damage is mentioned. The applicable remediation method can be used with the cost analysis, so that at any time, the overview of the remediation work can be seen.

Application limitations

The number of sewer and manholes sections in a database project is unlimited. The limitations can be entirely on the hard disk storage size. The number of database project is also unlimited.

Data exchange

The Data exchange between the following Rehm-Programs is not necessary as they use the same database:

HYKASComputation of Duct system
GraPSGraphical planning system for Sewer and Water Supply nets
KANALPLOTDrawing of Channel profiles
MENKOSQuantity and Cost estimation
WERTProperty valuation for Sewage Network

KAREL is well equipped with the following interfaces:

ISYBAU (Data type K, H, LK, LH, S, Z and EY)
ISYBAU XML 2006 (einschließlich Schnittstellenprogramm LisyTrans)
Freely definable interface for reading the co-ordinates
ASCII–Interface for interchanging the data from geometry, hydraulic and cost analysis.
